Abstract

This research focused on getting an ethanol extract from mobe leaves (Artocarpus lacucha Buch-Ham.) and figuring out the phytochemical components in them. The goals was to use this information as a foundation for creating a natural agent hepatoprotector. The research was done through experiments that involved gathering plant materials, preparing the raw drug, extracting it, characterizing the raw drug, and screening it for phytochemicals. The extraction was done using a cold maceration method with 96% ethanol to keep the active compounds stable, as they can be damaged by heat. The results showed that from 500 grams of simplicia powder, 61.4 grams of ethanol extract was obtained with a yield of 12.28%.The results of phytochemical screening of simplicia and ethanol extract of mobe leaves showed the presence of secondary metabolites in the form of flavonoids, alkaloids, tannins, saponins, triterpenoids, and glycosides. The content of these compounds is known to have various pharmacological activities, including as antioxidants, anti-inflammatory, antidiabetic, antibacterial, antifungal, and potential as a hepatoprotector. Based on the results of the study, the ethanol extract of mobe leaves has the potential to be developed as a natural-based therapeutic agent. Further research, including preclinical trials and safety and efficacy evaluations, is needed to support its use as a herbal medicine.
